LONG TAKE, LONG SHOT: PRODUCTION TERMS!

Mood     : Accomplished                        Music     : "All That Jazz" by Chicago

Wanna carve a name for yourself in the media industry? Think again… Then again, it might just work for ya!

Was up since 9am yesterday for church service.
1-2pm - had lunch with mommy.
2-3pm - I lay on the bed to rest but I did not sleep.
3-4pm - I was packing all the necessities for the shoot.
4-3am - I was up shooting with Eri, Faiq & Sam!

Yeap, it was one crazee evening till mornin. We managed to get the footages and stills for our assignment but the process was really challenging. Encountered problems here and there eventhough we had a clear idea of what we wanted and planned weeks ago. There were a lot of trials and errors as well as getting the "right" stuff!

I thought it was an amazing experience despite the time factor. We were on our toes when it comes to problem solving or making things work for that matter! One great team to work with cause no matter how crazee and tiring the entire shoot went, everyone respected and was miraculously patient with each other. Energy level was up the entire time and that really kept us goin. Basically feeding energy off from each other! No dinner man…was just shoot all the way!

Keeping our fingers crossed now till our time of presentation arrive. For now, is gonna be hours spent in front of the Mac editing the stuff we got! "Never The Sinner" here we come!

MY OWN RUSH HOUR & RM300!

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

Mood     : Accomplished                        Music     : "Umbrella" by Rihanna

Actually it wasn’t that rush. Just a packful of event for da day. In fact, timing for da day was perfect to da max.

So I got up at 9.15am to go to Mark’s place at 10am to shoot our clip for Joe’s Assignment. Everything wrapped up precisely 2.45pm. I drove from Taman Jaya all the way to Sg.Buloh for youth meeting at 4pm. Had 15 minutes to spare to have a quick sandwich lunch. Meeting ended at 6pm and I was already on my way to KLPAC to pick up the gobo from Sandee. Very important piece of equipment for tomorrow’s shoot. Left for Mid Valley at 6.45pm and arrived precisely 7pm to meet Melissa to get da key for Room 405.

Started my costume hunt till 8.45pm and I had to call EMERGENCY to rush me out of Mid Valley because I spent RM300 in an hour. Suddenly without warning I caught the MEGASALE sickness which can be very damaging. So i left and got home at 9.30pm after a short dinner.

Bought 2 suspenders from Metrojaya, 1 light blue airy polo-T from Giodano, 1 hat from People’s and 2 cds from Tower Records - Timbaland’s "Shockvalue" and Rihanna’s "Girl Gone Bad"!

THANK YOU SEK THIM!

Mood     : Accomplished                            Music     : "Do Somethin" by Britney Spears!

Whoa, another long…long day spent in college. Woke up at 8.45am to go for an early Production Design class at 9.30am. Ended up arriving at 10.15am due to a very mysterious slow crawl on the LDP. I mean really mysterious!

Class lasted till 12.15pm where we learned all about Lighting Design and it’s functions. Had a half an hour lunch b4 I head back straight into the studio for a 1 hour run-thru of "The Abandoned Space", a production we set up for our Theatre Project evaluation. That lasted till 2.15pm.

After that it was straight to Acting 1 class. We basically worked on the 3 major scenes again and again, cleaning up our act and adding layers to the performnace before we showcase it at 5pm as our exam evaluation piece. It was non-stop and rather tiring but we had to make sure ENERGY was up the entire time or else the pieces will fumble and our grades will be so affected. We perfomed excerpts from "Lao Jiu" by Kuo Pao Kun.

5pm came and Puay Tin as well as Mark Teh walked in to support us and get entertained by us as we perform in front of Sek Thim while he evaluate. Boy, it happened one after the other and for some reason, the entire ensemble just went along with high energy gotten from thin air. We received rather encouraging feedbacks from Sek Thim and that really made our day!

And just when you thought one piece of exam is over you can go home, we had to stay back as a group to watch and analyze a film entitled "The Circle" before entering Langenbach’s class, World Cinema next week. We were so hungry and exausted then but since it was a movie, we thought we could just sit, relax and enjoy the show. So we ordered McD (which took 1 hour & 30 mins to arrive) and sat for the entire show. The concept and content of the movie was AWESOME! 8.5/10 points. I arrived home at 9.30pm.

FANTASTIC 4: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER

Mood     : Entertained                        Music     : "Dance" by Nicole Scherzinger

Love it..love it…love it. Thank you so much BOSS for da free tixs. The show was awesome. Their powers were blown up to larger scales, guess is the sequel so you either get better or more powerful! Aahhaha…

The presence of Jessica Alba just makes the screen so visually pleasing. She’s "on fire" in this episode! And for some reason, everyone seem prettier and more handsome in this sequel. For some reason!!!

Da storyline was ok though I think it is too galactic to imagine 4 superheroes trying to save the world from a cosmic evil force. Just terover lar but hey, since this is comic, anything is possible I guess. The action sequence in this show is quite heavy but I was not thrown out of my seat lar since much of it is literally CGI to da max.

I’m giving this show 8/10 for being entertaining. And yea, try not to miss the credits at the end of the movie. Nothing big but still kinda wrap the show up for you lar. Glad you enjoyed it J To Da O EY!

FRUITFUL YET FLOODED!

Monday, June 11th, 2007

Mood     : Indifferent                        Music     : "Glamorous" by Fergie

Had a long day in church yesterday. Pretty fruitful I must say.

10-1pm    : Morning Service, I did back-up.
1-2pm      : Went to nearby mall to get football, food and drinks for Nepalease Event
2-2.30pm : Had lunch
2.3o-5pm : Church Leader’s Committee Meeting
5-6.15pm : Organized football match for the Nepalease
7-8pm       : Had dinner at O.K Restraunt in Tmn Tun with parents.

So we arrived at Damai Hospital at Jalan Ipoh to visit my aunt who was under observation. she was bored so we went there to entertain her. On da way to the hospital, it rained very heavily. So we thought we should just stay an hour. At 9ish, a nurse came up and informed everyone that the area was FLOODED. The Gombak River was spilling over the streets.

We went towards the window and oh my goodness, it was a flash flood. Like literally waist high muddy water over the streets. So bad you cant even see the streets or the dividers. The water even flowed into the hospital and other buildings and electricity for certain floors were wiped out due to short circuits.

My dad’s car was of course in jeopardy. He couldn’t go out cause the water was quite deep and dangerous to walk. In case there were deep holes along the way. We knew however the water would have flowed into the car and the engine area.

The water took 2 hours to subside and finally at 11ish, we could go out to check our car. True enuf, the car couldn’t start and the interiors were stained with mud. So my dad’s sister came and picked us up and off we went home and called it a day. My…my…my what a drama!

NEVER THE SINNER…

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

Mood     : Intrigued                        Music    : "All That jazz" by Chicago The Musical

This is such an amazing script. I mean, all those research and all those careful evaluation and long-winded interviews did pay off for John Logan. 14 years to finish this script ok! I quickly sank myself into the script from scene to scene. It didn’t seem like forever because I was constantly following the dialogues just asking myself this ONE question…WHY..WHY DID NATHAN LEOPOLD & RICHARD LOEB COMMITTED THAT MURDER???

So yea, I owe Faiq one for choosing this particular script and thankful to Melissa for introducing it to us. Wish I could be in this production one fine day. Thats my goal/dream in future. To play a part in NEVER THE SINNER. I never really fell in love with any scripts I read so far till this one came along. Well, I’ve been pretty much intrigued by eastern plays particularly our local materials but seriously, this is one western play I couldn’t get my eyes off!

Anyhow,  we’re not suppose to study this play for performance BUT instead for DESIGN. Yeap, from set to lighting to costume to sound…we’re suppose to come up with a design presentation at the end of the semester for the script. I am really excited eventhough we’re foreseeing challenges ahead. My only concern is to do justice with the design elements for the script. I honestly dun wanna ruin such an amazing piece of work.

FINGERS CROSSED!
