Mood     : Inspired                            Music     : "It’s My Life" by Bon Jovi

First and foremost, I must say I have no idea where I got the inspiration or the resources to write this poem. In fact, I never wrote a poem in my life before. For some reason, I sat in front of a blank word template and the next thing I know, in less than 15 minutes, I finished an entire poem about…

Just go to www.rage.com.my/blog/blogread.aspx?id=65&blogid=1 and read it for yourself. I can’t post it here cause r.age website has the right to my poem now.

After reading it, it would be cool if any of you could leave a comment here or at the website about what you think or what you gather or what you understand or what you see in the poem. Whether is about structure or composition or content…I dun care, just leave me something from your thought. Thank you :p

A STAR FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY!

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

Mood     : Happy                                Music     : "One Night Only" by Dreamgirls

Zouk KL celebrated their 3rd Anniversary yesterday ala HOLLYWOOD STYLE. That’s rite, the theme for the nite was Golden Awards Celebration and those who got invited were suppose to dress like celebrities and walk down the red carpet with literally paparazzi’s waiting at the corner to snap whoever that passes the floor.

Mom gave me two VIP passes that admits 4 people so me, Adeline, Dao and Yvonne went and was definitely treated like a celeb. We walked down the red carpet and boy, posing for the paparazzis ain’t easy cause flashes were coming from your far right to the middle to the far left. We were pretty calm, though the flashes were blinding us like crazee. Just gave a nice grin, gave some life to my eyes and slowly adjust from left to right so everybody can get a snap. Wonder if there were actually films in the camera or there were merely flashes…

Because we got the VIP invite, we were given the priveledge to jump the long…long…long que and head str8 for the VIP lounge inside Zouk Mainroom. And just when you thought everything is back to normal, in the VIP lounge, guests were treated to a free-flow of drinks until 11pm. We chilled, chit chat and wait for the next event to happen. Then the fashion show began. Of course, being Malaysians, the crowd were more interested in the models (male & females) than the apparels they were modelling for. I mean ,they were literally screaming and I’m sure they weren’t screaming ‘I want that dress!"

12.30am arrived, the mgmt came on stage and did the official opening of the birthday celebration and officiate the dance floor for everyone to P.A.R.T.Y It was truly a star-studded nite!

CERTIFIED ON OPEN DAY :p

It was definitely a SURPRISE for many of us when Puay Tin handed out certificates of completion after our showcase today. Attended a 6 session theatre workshop conducted by Mark Teh throughout this week and boy…it was absolutely interactive, fun and educational. Even as a 2nd year student of Performing Arts + Media, I must say I was absorbing every moment like a sponge because there were so many new things to learn.

We worked on dramatic pieces taken from newspaper excerpts instead of scripts. Initially, my group made a parody of a Citibank ad but on today’s open day showcase session, we performed a headline entitled INVASION OF PRIVACY and STRUCTURE OF MALAYSIA. It was truly an inspiring work of ART!

Helped with the open day by temaning Joe and Sharmila at the foyer, attending to future prospects. We wrapped up the day by giving Ray Langenbach a surprise birthday celebration. Mellissa got a very special green tea with red bean birthday cake that was rather interesting…(chuckles)!

IT’S A WRAP…THOUGH IT’S JUST DA BEGINNING!

Mood    : Satisfied                                Music     : "Kiss Goodbye" Wang Lee Hom

I thought the production ended well yesterday. I was on my toes the entire time although I’m quite used to the job. Probably it is the last show and all so you just want everything to run as smoothly as possible.

I did enjoy myself tremendously throughout the production process eventhough it was tiring and requires a lot of repetitive work. Learnt a lot too in the process. This whole experience has been a good one and definitely a memorable one. I’ve learnt to be professional in the things I do as far as the arts is concern. I’ve learnt to be more cautious of time. Lastly, I’ve learnt to work as a team and just enjoy myself.

It’s been a pleasurable experience and I’m lookin forward to further exploits. :p

1ST PERFORMANCE NITE!

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

Mood     : Accomplished                  Music     : "Happy Brithday" by Ray Langenbach

Whoa, and after all the toiling and sweating and bleeding and scolding (ahahaha)…my…my, you see the show come to life. And what makes it more AMAZING is that the audience love it or at least enjoyed the performance as a whole. Yes…yes…yes, the jobs may be tedious and all and some might be even too subtle to be noticed but who cares, it made the entire production look great and pro!

There were some quirks and all which i will mention in the front of house report later but overall, we know how to handle it by tomorrow anywayz. The show was great actually. The actresses were growing and just get better and better. Full house for the day. Get to meet up with Justin Ong and Isabel and Aaron after so long of being apart. Happy Brithday Bryant and thank you for the "crush" gift Melisa! By tomorrow I think everything will run smoothly liao.

10am - 12.30am…

Mood     : Accomplished                        Music     : "Stronger" by Britney Spears

Whoa, never spent such a long time in college b4! Was late for my calltime this mornin cause had to shop for cake for da march babies and get paint rollers for the acting space. Reached college at 11.30am but there was no parking space so had to park at the elephant walk.

Once I was in the theatre, it was work non-stop. I felt quite accomplished today cause managed to help Taycy to connect the kains and help her drape it all up around the theatre. That took up a lot of time and had to be halted every once in a while cause the tech ppl were busy doing cue to cue intensely.

That lasted till evening. After everything was stable and communicated well, it was our turn to tidy up the set and work on it. That lasted till midnite and my back ached like crazee. Glad we managed to do as much as possible although we are a litle…tiny…winy bit behind schedule. Had fun working with Melissa, Sunitha and Ruby throughout the nite! Thankz everyone for blessing us with water and food and fruits! That really kept us going…

MY VERY FIRST PRODUCTION BUMP-IN

Saturday, March 3rd, 2007

Mood     : Exausted                                Music    : "No Me Ames" by Marc Anthony

One thing really cool and exciting about this program/course I’m taking is that it transforms theory into practical. We are constantly given the chance to put the things we learn in class into ACTION and that helps us to be more competant. Da story is simple, our graduating seniors are putting up an experimental production called The Coffin Is Too Big For The Hole, written by a Singaporean writer, Koa Pao Kun.

WE, on the other hand are chosen to work on the PRODUCTION side of things. YES…very hands on! From lighting, to sound to set design to stage manage to front of house to layout…TO BASICALLY MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. Was in college from 10am - 9pm.

So what I did today?
1) Me and Mark went to Petaling Street to hunt down raw materials for the SET.
2) Came back and prepare the tickets by slicing them out page by page.
3) Plan the sitting layout with production manager.
4) Help with the set design.
5) Bring in the chairs from the storeroom.
6) Discussed and partially set up the front of house table.

Yes, very tiring BUT you LEARN as you go along with the process. Learn how to manage and use TIME well. You learn to be more EFFICIENT and EFFECTIVE in the things you given to do. You learn to IMPROVIZE & be CREATIVE when things are not happening the way you want to. Best part, you learn how to work TOGETHER as an ensemble. This is a really good team to work with because everyone is coorperative and responsible and most of all, do not take themselves too seriously.

LOUSY START BUT A HAPPY ENDING

Mood     : Refreshed                            Music    : "Hung Up" by Madonna

Got up late today cause for whatever reason, I did not hear da alarm ring. Maybe not used to waking up so early on holidayz. Was in office at 9.35am, 5 minutes late according to my roaring boss. All I can say is that I was there for some shoot and IT DID NOT GO WELL 4 ME AT ALL! I was a complete MORON the entire morning and I swore to myself never…ever…ever say YES to something like that ever…ever again. PERIOD!

And thank God for 1pm SPA APPOINTMENT. Royale Bintang Spa had this 70% off member day for anything above RM250. Mom, without hesitating, made an appointment for me since it is the holidayz and my exams just finish not too long ago. Spent 3 hours there doing nothing but relax and releasing tension. As usual, took the Royale Signature package.

Din’t have time for breakfast or lunch cause my timing today was just nice. After the treatment, I went to Secret Recipe for a hearty meal. Ordered their award-winning Lamb Shank and had Caribbean Mix  @ Juice Works! Bump into Yao Han as well at New Zealand Ice-cream. Ok, I wanna go nap liao…(Yawns…)
