It was definitely a nite to remember. I thought this year’s ball was better than da last… Guess it just keeps getting better huh! Although, I have to say, Palace Of the Golden Horses is gorgeous BUT da location is terrible. Got lost on da way there because I made one silly turn that cost me a bomb…

So, we were at da hotel by 12pm for a run through of the entire program. Again, we were given the honour to do the opening act. At first, we were pretty shocked with the stage setting. It was not elevated high enough and worst, da stage was cram and small. So that did Important_0761
affected our dance a little. Of course, practice makes perfect and we used every opportunity to get used to the stage.

And then there was LOADS OF TIME… While the other performers took the stage and do what they had to do, we were done like by 1.30pm and had hours to spare before the evening come. So we were lead to our ROYAL SUITE at the  DIGNITARIES  BLOCK.  Da room was spacious enough for 6 of us. Yvonne and Jiaqi needed to sleep badly so they monopolized da bedroom. Crystal booked da lazy chair and chatted her hearts away on the phone. Me, Cedric andImportant_0781
KC including Divya was on photo frenzy mode and we took pictures of every section of the room as we possibly can. We din’t even spare da restroom ok!

4pm arrived. Da gals had to go to the conference room for make-up and hair do while i took my own sweet and peaceful time napping on da couch while guarding our valuebles. Cedric had to practice for Bee’s performance. By 5pm, I happily invaded da bathroom and took a very long, warm bath to freshen up myself for da evening. We all soon gathered once again to beautify and decorate each other. From glittery hair spray, to body glow…the room was filled with life once again as everybody got into their respective costumes and 220920060061
prepared each other physically, emotionally and mentally for da nite.

As da time grew closer, we headed straight into the Royal Ballroom to prepare ourselves for da opening act. Extremely nervous and shaky cause we worked so hard together and wanted to put on a good performance. We met DJ Ian from hitz.fm and he helped lighten up da day by cracking jokes and talking about everything under da sun. He even told us his age which we almost fell after knowing it.

And da time finally came…we did our thing while our frens helped us record our 4 minutes long performance. We totally nailed it and da performance was amazing with all the lighting effects going smoothly with out sleek and stylo dance moves. So happy and proud of each other. Koon Chan was extremely satisfied with our performance as well and knowing how high her standards are. Da nite went rather smoothly after dat although most of us were just spacing out as we put da food into our mouth. Our legs were so tired from all the dancing and walking we did throughout da day in the hotel.

Everybody looked stunning and dazzling in their gawns and outfits. It was truly a nite of escape for the Prince & Princesses of Monash and some say from Sunway. As usual, we cannot spare any spot of the hotel untaken. Took photographs at evey 35169110955698l1
corner and staircase of the hotel cause we’ll probably never step foot in that place again lookin so gorgeous. Glad Shiou Wei, Ming Yang & Kah Foo was there to spend da nite with us as well. Oh, congratulations to my dear friends, Jer Huan…crowned as Monash King and Bee as Miss Congeniality. So proud of you ppl…  I had fun at the last ball event of my life. Muaks and take good care of yourself ppl. Stay young at heart :p

THE BANQUET !

Mood     : Satisfied                            Music     : "Irreplaceble" by Beyonce Knowles

Yeap, I still believe every Zhang Ziyi movies are powerful. Including this one. Yea, it can be slow moving and all, but I enjoyed myself. So many things to learn from the movie as well. Of course, as a performing arts + media student, I know what to look out for and observe lar. Like CHARACTERIZATION & MASK was so evident in the play within the movie. Still not sure whether Daniel Wu was really behind the mask or not. And MOVEMENT…the movement piece in the movie was intriguing. Love da fight sequence between Zhang Ziyi and Daniel Wu.

As for da storyline, I will be SHOCKED if I wasn’t exposed to GREEK and SHAKESPERIAN plays. Thank goodness, I am exposed to them. "The most poisonous thing in the world is the HUMAN HEART!" That’s da bottom line of da movie lar although there are much to it if you sit down and think about after watching da movie. The Banquet is an adaptation of Shakespear’s "HAMLET". I love da ending tremendously. Can’t give it away as usual…8/10 points given to da show.

Mood     : Exausted                   Music     : "Me Against The Music" by Britney Spears

Will this day ever end ? Just took my bath…and it is like 12.30am rite now. Got home pretty late today. So here’s my never ending drama for da day. Got up at 8am to finish Anne James journals before going for class which began at 10am. We had two hours of body work and masking. 12pm-1.45pm I attended dance practice. Getting better…need more energy thats all.

2-4pm had Voice & Movement class with Puay Tin. Made us play this very interesting tag game and got our energies up and going for two hours cause we need to learn breathing techniques for our voices. Had an hour break and by 5.30pm we were all at the rooftop theatre resuming our dance practice al d a way till 7pm. We love da result and pretty glad with our achivement. no i did not get to go home…

Guess what? 7pm was rather jam so I reached Kelana LRT Station at 7.45. Got my ticket and off I went to Taman Jaya to meet the gang. By 8.15, I did not see them so I continued my journey to Pasar Seni on my own. Why was I there ? Cause Ray Lagenbach wanted us to observe and study bout performance and human behaviour and architecture in different locations. So yea, I was there for WORK/ASSIGNMENT. We were there from 9-11. Yeap, 11.30, reached Kelana and off I went straight home. A crazy long day. Non-stop moving, walking and dancing…!!!

SEPTEMBER 11…

Mood     : Silent                                        Music     : N/A

It’s been already 5 years and is weird how time flies cause I am still able to remember the news and the scenes captured on CNN. I was only 17 back then. So many things have changed ever since…

Would be good to watch the Hollywood release of World Trade Center to dive into presumably the "reality" of what happened on that fateful day.

So much anger, so much hatred leading to so much war around the world. This is what happens when mankind allow their feelings to control their hearts. We may be the smartest and the most knowledgeble person in the world BUT if we are not able to control our feelings or guard our hearts, we are just as weak as an average person next door!

FIT OR FITTER ?

Friday, September 8th, 2006

Mood     : Energized                                Music     : "Turn It On" by Paris Hilton

It was a heavy Thursday for me cause I had to go thru non-stop body fitness routines. Hear me out here will ya ?

10-12pm I had Characterization & Mask with Anne James. We had to do all those body streches and warm-up sessions b4 we could get into our mask and characters. That took about an hour.

12-2pm I headed straight down to MUSA for our intensive dance rehersal. Mind you we’re not performing a ballad but a very quick hip hop piece by Shinhwa. Yeap, sweat it all out to da max and I’m pretty sure I got da moves all in my head. Now is just bout naturalizing da moves and make it my own.

2-4pm I had Voice & Movement class with Puay Tin. Yeap, you gotta get your WHOLE body fit and relax because  they play crucial role in your voice. So we had full hours of intensive body relaxation procedures called the Alexander technique and again, we also had to do some "yoga" moves cause Puay Tin wants all of us to be fit as actors or performers.

There you go…a total of 6 hours of non-stop body trainning for me. I feel like a rubber now!

DAMANSARA INTAN - JALAN TELAWI

Friday, September 8th, 2006

Mood     : Sleepy                 Music     : "Me Against The Music" by Britney Spears

Yesterday we celebrated Sharon’s birthday as well as her departure for the UK. Adeline took us to Delta Cafe at Damansara Intan and we spent like an hour there chit-chatting, catching up and eating cake. The nite was young for some of them. Sharon and Jung had cravings for hot nasi lemak with fried chicken in Bangsar.

It was 1am and we headed down to the busy streets of Jalan Telawi, Bangsar to hunt down da famous nasi lemak stall. Yeap, we found it and we were there till 3am. So tired.

SECOND LINK WAS ADMIRABLE!

Mood    : Inspired                                 Music     : "Naughty Girl" by Beyonce Knowles

It was a day of perfect timing for me. Was in church from 10-1pm. Had lunch, got home and change and check my mails and was ready to pick Dao up at 2.30pm. Da play began at 3pm. Got home at 6pm and went shopping with mom at 1Utama till 10pm. Non-stop hitz man…

I loved da show. For one, it was amazing to see my lecturers at work. They were spectacular. Sitting there with the audience, watching them strut their stuff on stage was truly a learning experience for me. Another incredible thing about Second Link was the versatility of the Malaysian and Singaporean actors. They performed one text after the other without stopping and they changed their voices, posture, characters and movements faster than a chameleon.

Lastly, as da name of the play suggests, Second Link is a crossover play between Malaysian and Singaporean actors. Basically, the Singaporeans performed texts written by Malaysian writers while our Malaysian team performed texts written by Singaporean writers. Is just remarkable how they managed to blend into the written works of the writers and bring those words to live on stage. Well done Ivan Heng for directing such an incredible play. I really enjoyed it although some of the performance flash by so fast, I din’t managed to grasp what it was about…

Anne James (Da 1st lady on the left) teaches me Characterization & Mask while Reza Zainal Abidin (Da 2nd guy from the right) taught me Thought & Writing. Oh, I met Bernie Chan there as well and she remembered me.
