First_interview_0141
I had my very first interview session today. Not one-on-one, but one-on-TWO. Would like to thank my editor for sending me out for this trip. Although it was nerve-wrecking at first, I realize that interviewing helps with your communication skills and allows you to meet ppl you probably will never get to know. I prepared myself from every angle because I did not want to risk looking like a sotong and come back with crappy information or worst, come back with nothing.

Talking to get more info is one thing. Asking da right questions is another. Hearing tentitively of course is a must. But what happens if you are required to ask, talk, hear and WRITE at da same time. And cammon, is not like they will purposely speak very slowly and keep coming back to me and repeating their answers rite ? That was what got me nervous at first cause I made sure non of that happen.

Of course I learnt something out of this. DUH…dun have to write every word wan, write those important points only. And BE with the person you’re interviewing, take interest and let it be casual and natural rather than making it prim and proper like robots. Glad, it went well. So yea, who did I interviewed ? Sharifah Amani (Orkid from "Sepet" & "Gubra") and young director Kelvin Wong, who was my ex-employer when I worked with The Oral Stage as their publicist early this year.

Went to cold storage today to get da ingredients for my ice-blended fruit juice cause I need to take pictures of it for da paper. Can’t wait to see it.

Not easy man taking pictures. Da fan was off cause I din’t want da candle to flicker all over while I’m shooting and I was standing next to da spot-light. No not in da studio, it was done entirely at home with whatever props I could find. Looks quite pro rite ?

So ladies & gentlemen…babies and elephant, I present to you, sunshine peago. A fruity blend of peach, mango and orange juice. Indulge !

Ok, Jasmine Women. Zhang Ziyi never fail to deliver a tour-de-force performance in the movies she appears in lor. One versatile actress who pushes herself beyond limits. Yes…yes, by da looks of da poster and storyline, one would naturally conclude it is gonna be a boring movie. Well, I took da chance anywayz cause I never get bored with a Zhang Ziyi movie before. My mom was dreading it though cause she expects it to be boring as well.

Da movie was adapted from a book. So you can say is gonna be like MEMOIRS lar. For those who cherish your mother a lot, this movie will move you. For those who don’t, this movie will cause you to rethink. That’s ONE angle! The SECOND angle depicts the CHANGE IN HUMAN MINDSET as TIME CHANGES. People change/progresses as time passes by. You’ll see a series of DEJA VU…take note SERIES OF DEJA VU which takes place in the 1930’s (Pre-world war II), 1950’s (Communist China) and 1978 (Modern China).

For those who enjoy analyzing movie mechanics and like reading between da lines and watch the story BEHIND the movie, JASMINE WOMEN is definitely the show to watch. Da concept is EXCELLENT. Not forgetting funny lines here and there. Chinese movie makers are sure progressing fast in the movie-making industry. Zhang Ziyi will be seen playing the YOUNG VERSIONS of EACH women (plural) while Joan Chen plays the OLDER VERSIONS of EACH women. No more spoilers for now. Giving 8.5/10 points for da movie. Be WARNED, if you dun like movies about human stories told in MELODRAMATIC forms, dun watch!

Mood     : Happy                               Music     : "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield

These couple of dayz have seen me writing like never before. Technically, is typing lar but let’s use da common term…writing. So yea, my editor Niki have been trusting me with more work to do. so glad he did. Example of the things I do at work (currently):

- interviewing various people to get information and feedbacks
- search events and happenings for the notice board section (very tedeous job)
- handle the Arts section for this week
- contribute an article on recipe
- search for classifieds
- do write-up on certain happenins to come
- get photographed (no face shots)

Yea, I still enjoy myself cause I’m learning every hour, well sometimes every half an hour I learn something new and is fun working with people like Shamila sitting next to you. Interesting… and oh, a lot of people would be proud of me cause for someone who falls asleep after reading one page of something, I have been doing loads of reading lately NON-STOP. Got time, READ. No time, READ…while working..yeap you got it…READ !!! Unbelievable !!!

YAY…WRITTEN MY FIRST ARTICLE !!!

Before I go on…I gotta mention Christina name 1st b4 she throws something at me. Chrissie, I only met you like during lunch time. Dat blog entry was done at 11.30am. Urgh, I gotta hand it to you Nasa. You sure do have some connections with NASA space shuttle and satelite. She actually found my blog. These are seasoned reporters to da max !!!

I enjoyed myself on my 1st day at work. Mornin was as dead and cold and silent as the graveyard. But when noon strikes, da place was animated. 1st mission was to send the pre-copy to the pre-press department. 2nd assignment was to send a photo to be scanned at the IT department. And wallah, my 3rd assignment, have an interview with the participants of Spirit of Penang and write an aritcle bout them. I have to say, I was honestly freaked out a little and nervous cause this is where I really put my writing skills to da TEST. And interviewing isn’t that easy. You gotta dig hard and dig deep for info.

Nasa was really encouraging although I do think she thinks my writing sucks…ahahahaha…Niki my editor will only review it with me tomorrow mornin. Fingers crossed to da max. Finally warm up with my colleagues. Yay…a good day indeed. Wish i took pictures of da my colleagues so I can display them here. Still kinda shy lar…*o*

1ST DAY AT WORK !

Sunday, July 16th, 2006

Mood      : Happy                   Music      : "Promiscuous" by Nelly Furtado

An "interesting" day for me really. Left home at 8.15am. Jam was terrible. Reached office at 8.55am but i got lost in da car park !!! Went to HR office at 9.15am and was there till 10.30am. Da lady who was suppose to brief me wasn’t around. Well she left da company. Glad Elaine and Kel attended to me. Gave me a good briefing. Showed me da necessary departments and introduced me to people that I will be working with. Met Nasa (not da space shuttle) along da way.

Weird, cause I bump into her in college while she was on her assignment. She was really nice and helpful. Nobody was around in our section. Had a story to work on and still, she chose to walk me thru da company systems and introduce me to more people. For now, I only remember Jade, Melody & Vivian. Gee, loads of gals here. Gals do enjoy writing huh. No complaints on my part !

Da place is huge. 17 floors altogether. Loads of computer terminals for us to use. Cubicles a plenty. Most people looked kinda tired sitting in front of da PC very quietly typing and typing and typing. I myself had time to experiment and explore the computer system here. Still got loads to learn though and the only way I can learn is when my editor gives me work to do on da PC.

Basically, is 11.30am rite now and I have nothing to do YET cause my boss and the editor is not around. Actually had time to read da papers and update my blog. Will see how it goes in da afternoon. So far so good…

LOADS OF ACTION FOR PIRATES 2: DEAD MAN’S CHEST !

Pirates
I wish I could tell you what’s in da chest. But it will spoil da fun. Pirates Of The Carribean 2: Dead Man’s Chest is much more witty and filled with more action compared to the first installment. The story is pretty much deeper as it prepares you for the THIRD INSTALLMENT. You cannot afford to loose the dialogues because valueble informations about Davey Jones and the chest are told seperately. Also, follow the dialogues thru to really understand what Jack Sparrow is all about and his relationship with Davey Jones.  But urgh…be prepared for a VERY SUSPENCE ending which will drive you insane !!! You are FORWARNED. Pirates 3: At World’s End will only be out on May 2007 !!! Chow Yun-Fatt will join the stellar cast as the mysterious Captain Sao Feng. Pirates 3 will begin where the CHEST was concluded. 7.5/10 !!!

ACCEPTED AS AN INTERN FOR THE STAR PUBLICATIONS !

Mood     : Happy                                            Music     : "Who Knew" by Pink

Was having my lovely nap this afternoon and suddenly my phone rang. Answered it and this lady with a POLITE voice said, "Hi…I’m calling from The Star Publications. Is this Adrian ?" My eyes became WIDE OPEN. I said, "Yeap, this is Adrian." She basically wanted to notify me that my internship was approved and since I’m 22 already, I do not need a parental letter to absolve the company from any harm. Instead, I myself should sign the letter. So gotta fax her another letter tomorrow in order to proceed with administrative work. Will be reporting myself on the 17th of July. Can’t wait !

SUNDAY IS DESSERT DAY !9

Mood     : Satisfied                     Music     : "A Public Affair" by Jessica Simpson

I had to dine with mommy today cause Reza expect us to write a food critique paper before sitting for da exam this week. We headed to Bakerzine at 1Utama straight away cause I wanted to do a review on desserts. At least I know there is much more to write for desserts. So yea, i wanted to try something new. The last time I was there, I ordered warm chocolate pie which sent me to chocoland. This time round, I ordered Baked Apple Tart. Freshly caramelized apple slices baked in a light puff pastry makes this a refreshing twist to the usual slice of pie. As it melts in your mouth, their homemade vanilla ice-cream will heighthen every sensation ! luv it…luv it…8.5/10 !!!

Oh yea, I called Sunday dessert day because after we went home, I had Creme Bouleques waiting for me in da fridge. Mom got it from this French cafe called Sun Moulin. Doesn’t sound French to me.

SATURDAY - PUTRAJAYA TRIP WAS FUNTASTIC BUT EXAUSTING !

So yea, slept at 1am yesterday after "777". got up at 8.15am today. Had to be in Yvelyn’s house early so we can meet BOL on time. Da trip there was really long cause we made wrong turns. I was rather annoyed cause I was so sleepy and all I wanted was to reach Putrajaya ASAP. Sprititual attack for sure. I put on auto-pilot straight away and next thing I knew, we were in da grand city of Putrajaya.

Da place was really nice and grand. Large roads and beautiful architecture. I’m talking bout da All_things_0561
government headquarters. and then we reached Alamanda Putrajaya to get KFC for da children. Next stop, it was da Botanical garden. really nice place with beautiful landscape. Our 1st mission was cycling. I love cycling a lot. Of course, da whole trip was not for us to enjoy but to make sure da children had fun. Some tak tau cycle, masih wanna get on da bike. Other’s were cycling north…south…east…west ! Mine refuse to say a word. I just took her for a joy-ride around da area while she enjoy da wind and scenary.

All_things_0191
Then we visited da Science center which din’t have much to offer. Again, it was about da children and i was glad the children had fun there. I did learn about mushrooms though at the Science center. Children performed some song numbers for us at the Botanical garden and I was really touched by it. Luv them…luv them…SOOO CUTE !!! Da gal who refuse to speak to me ended up gave me a nice souvenier which she drew by herself. that was so cool.

Lastly, the day ended at the Wetlands whereby we took a 10 minutes boat ride around da lake. Da All_things_0311
only thing that trilled me was da swans. So graceful and beautiful. We left at 6 something. I could not go home after that cause we had to attent Baby Ian’s 1 year old birthday bash at SunwayMas. took a good bath at Yvelyn’s house and went str8 to da party. Was there till 10 something, then we went to Elaine’s house to cut da Pooh Bear inspired cake. Reached home at 12am. Drop dead on da bed till da next mornin !
